Nucleus - multi-tenant Moodle, managed.
MANY MOODLES.
ONE CONTROL PLANE.
Nucleus runs federated Moodle: a hub for your shared content and identity, and as many spokes as you need - each its own Moodle, in its own tenant, on its own timeline.
The idea
HUB & SPOKE
Author courses once in the hub and distribute them to every spoke. Federate content, identity, or both - your call, per federation.
TENANTS YOU OWN
Each spoke is its own Moodle in its own namespace: own database, own files, own domain. Real isolation, not a pretend multi-site.
HOSTED OR SELF-RUN
Let me run it on UK infrastructure, or run it yourself on Kubernetes - the same control plane, the same chart.
How it works
The core of it
- IsolationOwn database, files and namespace per spoke - real isolation, not row filtering
- ProvisioningA new spoke is live in 3-8 minutes
- FederationShare content, identity, or both - chosen per federation, not forced
- BrandingPer-spoke themes and subdomains; custom domains on the Dedicated tier
- BackupsDaily, with 30-90 day retention by tier and monitored restores
- BaseMoodle 5.1 LTS, with per-spoke plugin freedom
- HostingUK infrastructure (London), or self-host on your own Kubernetes

Open source
The three federation plugins Nucleus runs on are free and GPL. Take them and build your own control plane - they expose the web services for it - or run a federation between Moodle sites with no control plane at all.
Who it's for
Nucleus earns its keep wherever one organisation needs many Moodles - shared content, independent branding, separate data:
